Environmental Clean Up Underway

Environmental clean-up work is underway at the site of a former gas station on the west side of Edgewood Plaza. Brownfield specialist, Gary McKinney, says the contaminated soil will be cleared from a petroleum leak on the property. The work will include the removal of underground storage tanks, along with remediation work.

No Charges Yet In Roadside Death

No charges have been filed yet in the death of a surveyor in a crash believed to have been caused by a Frankton man. 72-year-old Timothy L. Osburn, was reportedly driving a pickup truck southbound on Indiana 37 late last week when he struck two workers standing outside of their truck.

Libertarian Prez Nominee Pitches Mayors

Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson has made a campaign pitch to about 200 mayors at their conference in Indianapolis. The former New Mexico governor incorporated a couple of nods to his audience, including his longstanding call to legalize marijuana and focus less on prison time for other drugs.

New Transit Center Opens

The new Julia M. Carson Transit Center in Indianapolis opened to the public yesterday. The Transit Center is the new central transfer point for all IndyGo routes traveling through downtown Indianapolis. The $27 million facility is expected to help cut down wait times for riders, and improve traffic downtown.
