The tiny house village for homeless helped by Bridges Community Services will have to wait until May 26th before they know if the city will allow a variance to permit the housing plan. There were not enough members at the last meeting to take a vote.

Anderson man’s body found in pond

In Anderson, the body of a 57-year-old man was found in a southside pond this morning. The victim is identified as George Armstrong. The Madison County Coroner is doing an autopsy today. The man lived in apartments on East 60th Street.

Muncie man convicted of bestiality, sentenced

A Muncie man already convicted twice of child molestation was convicted of sexually abusing his roommate’s pit bull. 36-year-old Andrew Shinnock has mental problems, according to a psychiatrist and a psychologist who testified at this trial. He was sentenced to time served with good behavior since his August arrest.

Volunteer firefighters involved in Gaston crash

A Gaston firetruck responding to a traffic crash with volunteers on board went off the road and hit a utility pole last night. The three volunteers were checked out and ok. The crash was apparently caused by another driver who didn’t get out of the way. The fire chief says the engine can be repaired.

Housekeeper sets up client for theft

A Muncie housekeeper is accused of arranging a burglary of a client’s home while her client was in the hospital. 61-year-old Judy Green is charged and in jail. She has two previous theft convictions. Tomorrow is Paige McLaughlin’s 35th birthday, and she’s spending it in jail, accused of beating her estranged husband with a tire iron. The woman reportedly came to the victim’s home to retrieve her property when she allegedly hit him. She’s charged with felony battery and being held in Delaware County jail.
