Woman claims she stabbed man who battered her

Police are investigating a woman’s claim that she stabbed a man who was battering her. That man, 24-year-old Jeffrey Thomas, had shown up at the ER saying he hurt himself in a fall in his garage. He was wounded in the torso. Thomas denies hitting the woman, and no arrests have been made.

Local woman sues store after fall

A Muncie woman is suing Fisher Meats after she fell in their store following a snowstorm hit the area last February and she slipped in a puddle inside the front door. Cheryl Toomey says she was permanently and severely injured, lost wages and wants unspecified damages for what she calls “carelessness, recklessness and negligence.”

Corrections officer charged with teen’s rape

A corrections officer at the Madison County Correction Complex in downtown Anderson has been charged with rape. 20-year-old Chase Arbuckle was arrested on Wednesday for an alleged attack of a 17-year-girl in a Jeep outside the girl’s home. He’s facing criminal confinement, sexual battery, felony battery and rape chages, and has bonded out of jail.

Police arrested a Muncie man for a fight on Wednesday that ended with his neighbor’s ear bit off then swallowed.
