A state committee wants shorter tests to replace Indiana’s troubled ISTEP exams without specifying how to reach that goal. The educator-dominated panel voted Tuesday to send recommendations to state legislators for revamping the state’s standardized exams. The panel calls for quicker grading of the tests, which have been plagued by long delays in results.
The House Ethics Committee says it is continuing an investigation of allegations against Representative Marlin Stutzman, essentially guaranteeing it will take no action before the Indiana Republican leaves Congress at the end of the year. An independent panel says Stutzman may have used campaign funds to pay for a personal family trip to California.
