A Muncie man is charged with beating his wife. 64-year-old Harold Hicks was arrested on misdemeanor and felony battery charges. His wife’s neck was fractured in the alleged attack and she was sent to the hospital. Police say they don’t know the motive.

Still no official word why a new Muncie salt truck and plow caught fire in the city garage when it hadn’t been running for several days. The City street superintendent has said he believes it involved the $140,000 truck’s electrical system. They have an insurance adjuster and an investigator working on solving this one.

The four-year old child who died in a fire with her grandfather has been identified as Jenna L. Dale. Her grandfather, 52-year-old Michael Dale also died in the blaze that destroyed a home on S. Henry County Road 850-E on Wednesday morning. The child’s father was thought to be at work.
