Yorktown residents along River Road between Morrison and Nebo are starting to see the next part of the community’s trails project begin to take shape. Crews are clearing brush and 50 trees so that the trail project along the road can continue. River Road will likely be the only trail project this year for Yorktown.
It’s a year of home detention for an Anderson woman after she pleaded guilty to fraud and theft charges. 44-year-old Deanna D. Noland admitted to taking around $2,500 belonging to a blind man for whom she was caring. Nolan pleaded guilty to felony fraud and theft.
The City of Kokomo has paid nearly 30-thousand dollars in civil penalties to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management for violations associated with three different city projects. There were 20 violations in total, including problems with planning, maintaining records, and monitoring.
Randolph County has been added to the Northeast Indiana Foreign-Trade Zone. What that means is that local businesses can now have access to materials with reduced U.S. Customs duties on things being imported or exported.

Former Madison Circuit Court Judge Fred Spencer has died. The 78-year-old Spencer died Sunday at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after battling tongue cancer for several years. First elected to the Circuit Court bench in 1982, Spencer served until he announced his retirement in September 2009.
