Elwood Animal Shelter Temporarily Closed

Elwood Mayor Todd Jones has ordered the temporary closure of the local animal shelter. Jones says during the shelter’s 2015 construction, an underpowered ventilation system was installed – leaving workers and animals at risk. The city is already beginning to work on some of the needed upgrades.

The Anderson Housing Authority is discussing the possibility of selling Westvale Manor apartments. The board is considering the construction of duplexes to replace the 45-apartment housing complex near West 22nd Street and Raible Avenue.
