Two months after he was fired as a Muncie police officer over allegations of cocaine use, Jonathan Powell is seeking appointment as a city firefighter. The Star Press reports Powell in recent days received a conditional offer of employment from the Muncie Police Fire Merit Commission. However, that is only the first step in a process that could lead to Powell’s actual hiring as a firefighter. A background check, usually conducted by a law enforcement agency, will follow.
