Jessica Smith submitted her resignation Monday, effective immediately, from the Pendleton Town Council. Smith indicated in her resignation letter that she can’t work with a body that does no share her beliefs and values, citing specifically, the reinstatement of the police chief after comments he made about Black Lives Matter and the LGBT communities. Smith had been the first woman to serve as president in the town’s history.
