Tensions were high as community members voiced their discontent toward the Ball State takeover of Muncie Schools during last night’s Muncie Community School Board meeting. One member of the public said the parachuting in of BSU won’t bring the Muncie and Ball State communities together, but instead strain the relationship. Board member Kathy Carey said she fully supports the takeover and is willing to sacrifice her seat as long as the wellbeing of the kids comes first. Emergency management team member Steve Edwards wants to clear up speculation concerning the possible elimination of music and art programs at Muncie Community schools. Edwards said the team is not trying to completely eliminate programs; instead they are trying to make the budget more cost productive.
