Five firefighters were injured in an explosion and fire at the old Thomson plant in Marion. Fire crews were battling flames at the former factory on the city’s south side from the inside and out when two tanks inside the building exploded. Four firefighters were taken to the hospital for possible hearing loss. A fifth firefighter was injured when he cut his hand. Two Marion fire investigators along with the State Fire Marshal’s office are looking into the cause of the fire.
