The camera system at the Madison County Jail is being upgraded. Authorities say footage captured by those cameras can be used in criminal investigations involving inmates and as a defense for correctional officers if inmates allege abuse. The Herald Bulletin reports a $110,000 appropriation has been okayed for the upgrade. Currently, the lock up has 110 cameras, but the system has had issues with recordings of what the cameras shoot.
