Red Fox Nixed In Chambers

A bill authored by Yorktown lawmaker, Doug Eckerty, to make the red fox Indiana’s state mammal, appears to be dead. Eckerty’s bill notes Indiana has an official state poem, state song, state stone, state river, state rifle and state aircraft, “but, unlike more than 40 other states, does not have an official state mammal.” The red fox was proposed because it is found in all 92 counties.
