Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Elwood Hit & Run
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department says they are investigating a fatal hit and run crash that happened in Elwood just before midnight Saturday night. They say it happened at 9th and Main when a Dodge Ram struck a 16 year old male from Tipton. The driver did not stop, however a witness followed the vehicle to Windfall, where a Tipton County deputy detained him. He has been identified as 77 year old Michael A. Carnes of Frankfort. Police say he did consent to a toxicology test, which is pending. The youth died at Elwood St. Vincent Mercy.
