STORM DAMAGE, and Mearns Talks About Possible IPR Cuts

Storm damage reports will be assessed and confirmed through the day, but many power outages, cable/internet outages, and damage to trees and structures are clearly creating trouble for ECI.  Schools impacted are listed here. Delaware County EMA is seeking info from the public about storm damage to help assess, and assist.  That form is here. Paul Poteet joined Steve Lindell for live coverage as the storms were impacting the area, with tornado and thunderstorm warnings too widespread to be listed here.  As is usual, many unconfirmed reports are being circulated on social media by residents – we caution all to Listen and Watch for official sources.  As for many downed lines – some power, some other – never approach them.  Call for help.

Ball State Pres Mearns went on to say

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is coming to Anderson. The former Purdue national champion and Indiana Miss Basketball will be a guest at the Legends League Madison County Rising Stars event April 12 at Highland Middle School. We noted recently that in the new Top 10 Student List released from Ball State University, an Anderson and a Noblesville student made the cut, but he wanted to talk up a bit of a “steal” from another college town

More than 1,300 new residential, business and farm locations have access to high-speed internet after the completion of a $2.5 million project spearheaded in rural southern and southwestern areas of Delaware County by AT&T. The project began in 2022 with AT&T contributing $1.5 million and county officials putting in $990,000 made available by the American Rescue Plan Act.

Student IDs may no longer be valid for voter registration. The Indiana House passed an amendment to a Senate bill Tuesday that would require students to present another form of identification when going to the ballot box. The new version of the bill must be approved by the Senate before going to Gov. Mike Braun’s desk.

Ball State made it official Tuesday. Kristen McCauliff has been appointed dean of the College of Communication, Information and Media. McCauliff had been the interim dean since July and has been a faculty member at the school since 2009.
