Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter joined Tuesday’s address to a joint session of Congress speech by President Trump, according to Congressman Jefferson Shreve, who said on Monday that Retter partnered with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to get drug dealers off the streets in Indiana.
The Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement from Party Spokesperson Sam Barloga after the speech. “On the same day that the president announced massive tax increases on Americans through tariffs on our largest trading partners and crashed the stock market, Americans tuned into his speech hoping for reassurance and answers about our economy and our future. They got none.”Donald Trump promised to lower prices on day one of his administration. Instead, inflation is back up to a 12-month high, the economy is expected to shrink by 3% in the first quarter of 2025, and the stock market has wiped out all of its post-election gains.“Hoosiers and all Americans deserve better than the chaos on display from this administration. Americans voted to take a wrecking ball to the status quo and special interests, but instead billionaires are getting record tax breaks and costs are only increasing on Hoosier families. It is just promises made and promises broken. Billionaires win while working families lose. “Hoosiers deserve to hear from their representatives in Washington, but all Indiana Republicans in Congress refuse to hold town hall meetings. Democrats are, and we will keep listening to the needs of Hoosiers to lower costs for Hoosiers at the gas pump, pharmacy, and grocery store.”
