Muncie Community Warming Centers Share Updated Hours

Cold coming – Warming Centers in Muncie are typically activated when temperatures drop below 32 degrees, according to a post on the City’s website.  The entire contact list is on our Local News page this morning.

Community Warming Centers Share Updated Hours

The Center Township Trustees Office, The Muncie HUB, Christian Ministries, the YWCA, the Muncie Mission, and the Salvation Army have opened their doors since October to provide warming centers for individuals in need. For Christmas and New Year’s, the hours will be as following:

  • Center Township Trustee Office  1200 E Main Street

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm

Closed the 23rd, 26th, 30th, and 2nd

  • Muncie HUB 318 W 8th Street

Monday to Friday, 8 am to noon, 1 pm to 4pm

Closed Saturday through Monday

  • YWCA  310 E Charles Street

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm; Saturday/Sunday 7 am to 3 pm

Women and children seeking overnight shelter must arrive during weekday hours for intake

  • Salvation Army  1015 N Wheeling Avenue

Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm

Closed between December 24th and January 2nd

  • Muncie Mission  1725 S Liberty Street

Open 24/7

Overnight shelter for men only

  • Christian Ministries 403 ½ E Main Street

Overnight: 6 pm to 8 am

Overnight shelter for men only


Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch announced today the resignation of Bruce Kettler, director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA). Kettler’s last day will be Jan. 6, 2023, as he becomes the new CEO and President of the Agribusiness Council of Indiana.

That major power outage in Kokomo Tuesday afternoon that left about 10,000 people without power, was caused by a squirrel that ran into a substation.  Duke Energy says they are now watching the weather, and hoping for no major problems.
