A new 246 bed jail and sheriff’s office is being built in Henry County near the New Castle Correctional Facility on Van Nuys Road. The Muncie paper reports the $24 million project is expected to house inmates as early as mid-February. Due to overcrowding issues at the current lock up, Henry County has been paying Delaware County $40 per inmate per day for 20 to 30 inmates a day.
