A local man whom police say tried to take his girlfriend’s life has been 36 years behind bars. 46 year old Corey Antwan Garrett was found guilty of attempted murder. The Star Press reports he was arrested for an incident in September 2019 in which he attacked 43-year-old Sharika L. Taylor with a hammer in her home along West Jackson Street. The victim suffered multiple injuries.
