Unless something changes, again, a disciplinary hearing to terminate the employment of Anderson Police Department Officer Taylor Sanderson is planned Monday.  The Anderson Board of Public Safety has scheduled an executive session followed by a public meeting at 5 p.m. to consider the recommendation by Police Chief Jake Brown following a complaint of sexual misconduct against Sanderson by a co-worker.  The disciplinary hearing has been rescheduled several times since Brown requested in February.

At last week’s regular meeting, the Muncie Sanitary District Board briefly discussed past due accounts.  Newest member Tonya Brothers-Bridge explained it’s better for citizens to call and make arrangements, rather than just not pay the bill…

The annual Secret Families Muncie Christmas event spend $125,000 of donated funds, and served 1569 people, among  325 families by 300 volunteers.  Plans are already underway for next year – December 4, 2021!

Cancel Culture:  the City of Anderson announced last week that the annual Christmas parade and skating at Dickmann Town Center have been canceled.  The parade has been marking the start of the holiday season in Anderson since it was re-implemented in 2013, and the skating rink at the downtown park was first opened in 2016.

$125,000 worth of smiles, and tears.   The annual Secret Families Muncie Christmas event served 1569 people, among  325 families by 300 volunteers.  Gifts, wrapping paper, trees and bibles – all delivered by masked-up volunteers, donning the secret families flag attached to their vehicles.

The Surgeon General, former state health commissioner Jerome Adams, tells Fox’s “Daily Briefing” you should not forget the CDC’s recommendation to wear a mask…While infection rates are up, so are testing rates in the U.S.  And, the vast majority of deaths continue to be elderly, and those complicated by other conditions.

Minnetrista’s Enchanted Luminaria holiday lights and decorations are scheduled to remain open for all to enjoy through Jan. 10, but the display has been a target of theft and vandalism.  They are stepping up security with additional patrols around campus, and adding anti-theft safeguards to decorative elements.

Political rhetoric, from the Indiana Democratic Party.  In a press release Friday entitled “Brewing Indiana GOP Civil War to Spill Over in 2021 Session,”  they wrote that Hoosiers have already seen previews of this party bickering as recent as last month.  As an example, they cited Governor Holcomb dropping the Mask Violator Penalty “After [GOP] Criticism,” but failed to mention that the notion was unenforceable, and that law enforcement and health departments lack the manpower to do so.

The identity of the man found dead last week has been released: Michael Anglo Thopson, 27, of Gas City.  The Anderson Police Department is conducting the homicide investigation.  This is the fourth homicide in Anderson this year. There were six last year.
