Psi Iota Xi Charities Inc. is pleased to announce its Philanthropic Grant Awards for 2019. These grants are funded from profits earned at The Bargain Box, 607 E. Charles Street in Muncie. The Bargain Box is a resale shop operated and staffed by volunteer members of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. The purpose of the sorority is “the furthering of philanthropic, cultural and social enterprises” in our community. This year’s grants totaling $18,000 were awarded to some of the following worthwhile organizations:A Better Way – $3,500 for upgrades to the kitchen and appliances at the shelter.Christian Ministries of Delaware County – $2,200 to purchase protein rich staple food items for meals provided to the men’s shelter clients.Delaware County Special Needs Prom – $1,600 for prom funding to inspire, encourage, and enhance self-esteem for individuals with special needs in our community.Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County Funders Forum – $500 to contribute to the 2020 focus for funding which is the opioid crisis in our community and the Muncie Symphony Orchestra $1,800 to fund the Young Artist Competition for grades 6 thru 12.
