Expensive Week Brewing For Madison County Council

Madison County Council will be fielding requests this week for close to $500,000 in new funding. Currently the county has an operating balance of $5.9 million and a rainy day fund of approximately $340,000. Auditor Rick Gardner says they need an operating balance of $9 million to get through the first six months of this year. They’ve already arranged to borrow on June’s property tax settlement to fill some of the gap.
