Big budget cuts for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. According to the Herald Bulleting, council shot down the majority of a request for three new road deputies for the Sheriff’s Department, seven new correctional officers for the jail and money to purchase up to 15 new patrol cars. The Sheriff’s Department and jail budgets were cut by $1.3 million.
