Lawsuit Filed In Jail Overdose Death

A woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Blackford County after her daughter died of a meth overdose while being held in the county jail. Denise Seats’ 24-year-old daughter died on July 18, 2017. The Star Press reports that the lawsuit contends that Blackford County and the sheriff’s department had a duty to ensure meth was not accessible nor transported into the county jail. The county has yet to formally respond to the lawsuit.
