A solution is underway for those who have hit the railroad crossing arms at 53rd Street and Columbus Avenue in Anderson. City Engineer Chuck Leser says the railroad crossing arms are damaged on a monthly basis. CSX Railroad has removed the crossing arms to make the intersection more driver-friendly and safer. As 53rd Street is getting repaved this summer, the city will narrow the westbound lane and make it straight so motorists can travel through the intersection without having to weave.
