Former Muncie Police Chief Steve Stewart’s federal lawsuit against Mayor Dennis Tyler has been resolved through an out-of-court settlement. According to the Star Press, attorneys have been directed to file a “stipulation of dismissal within 28 days.” Stewart’s suit alleged Tyler and former Democratic Party chairman Phil Nichols tried to badger Stewart into ordering a Muncie police investigation of a city employee believed to be cooperating with a FBI probe of the Tyler administration.
