The Pentagon said Sunday it will send 3,750 more troops to the U.S.-Mexico border. The additions will bring the total number of active-duty troops on the border to 4,350.

General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting this morning. The cost-cutting move is expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020.

An anonymous Brooklyn federal jury is expected to begin deliberations as soon as this afternoon in the drug conspiracy trial of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. The judge will give the jury instructions this morning.

Embattled Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro asserted over the weekend “There is no dictatorship in Venezuela, nor will there be.” Maduro responded to calls for new elections by proposing an early parliamentary vote.

Netflix tweeted Sunday night “so apparently this Super Bowl thing is kind of a big deal … looks like Netflix viewing in the US was down about 32% compared to a normal Sunday”
