Efforts by State Rep. Melanie Wright (D-Yorktown) to drastically increase state support for local efforts to improve school security were rejected Thursday in the Indiana House. Wright’s proposal would dedicate up to $100 million to improve school security infrastructure and increase the number of School Resource Officers in Indiana’s schools. Wright says “While Thursday’s actions were disappointing, I will still work the rest of this session to improve the quality of school safety programs in Indiana.
