Regulators Approve Smaller Rate Hike For I&M

Indiana regulators have approved a rate increase for Indiana Michigan Power that’s significantly smaller than the rate hike the utility initially sought. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved an order Wednesday allowing the company to boost its Indiana customers’ rates about 7.3 percent. The utility had initially sought a 20 percent rate increase. But that was cut under a settlement between the company, Indiana’s consumer advocate and several cities, companies and advocacy groups.
