Leaving a pet in an abandoned home or vacant lot would be illegal in Anderson under adoption of resolution by City Council. Members voted 8 to 1 in favor with no public opposition voiced to it. Shelter officials say they receive frequent calls about animals left in vacant homes or on vacant lots, in some cases, owners return only on a weekly basis to feed and give water to animals in houses with no utilties.
