The weather hasn’t felt much like fishing season, but the first “Free Fishing Day” in Indiana is just around the corner. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources holds four “Free Fishing Days” throughout the summer, where anglers can fish the state’s public waters without a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp. The first Free Fishing Day of the season will be held Saturday, April 21. The next day for free fishing will be May 19, followed by the weekend of June 2-3. On other days, only children 17 and younger, Indiana residents born before April 1, 1943, as well as a few others with exemptions, are able to fish for free.
