The Anderson Board of Public Safety has voted to demote Battalion Chief Kent Helpling by one rank for disciplinary purposes. Fire Chief Dave Cravens recommended Helping be demoted to the rank of sergeant for charges of neglecting his duty. Helpling was instead demoted from battalion chief to assistant battalion chief.
