Two Anderson Fire Department officers — one active duty and one retired — have received 2017 Firefighter of the Year awards from the Anderson Noon Exchange Club. Both men, Shawn Dietzen, currently chief of maintenance for the department, and Jon Smith (retired) are decorated veterans of the department.
