Muncie Woman Files Lawsuit Over Parking Lot Accident

A Muncie woman has filed suit against an Illinois man over a February traffic accident that was reportedly the result of his eating while driving.
The lawsuit filed in Delaware Circuit Court by Muncie resident Pamela Cox names 53-year old Jesse D. Jackson III, of Sycamore, Ill.- a far west suburb of Chicago- as the defendant. Muncie Police say Jackson was driving his SUV in a parking lot when he struck a parked car. The impact forced that car- which Cox was sitting inside- into a 3rd car. The 69-year old Cox claimed to have suffered internal injuries, 12 broken ribs and a broken collarbone in the accident. Jackson told police at the scene he began to have a coughing attack while in the parking lot, causing his foot to hit the accelerator. The suit is seeking an unknown amount of damages to compensate Cox for medical expenses, lost wages and “permanent injuries.”
