The Delaware County sheriff says he’ll fight a $1.8 million bill for a former jail inmate’s four-month hospital stay. The payment demand from IU Health is for a Delaware County Jail inmate who was diagnosed with septic shock. The sheriff says a judge ordered the man released from custody two days after going to the Muncie hospital. IU Health says state law prevents an inmate’s release to avoid medical care responsibility.
