Assessment In Alexandria After Gas Main Fire

The fire is out and officials are assessing the damage from a natural gas line rupture and fire in Alexandria late Thursday. At one point, 17 agencies and 54 emergency vehicles were on the scene after a car hit the gas line and ruptured it, causing the large fire. The incident prompted a half mile evacuation in all directions of the 1200 block of West Washington Street. The driver of the car 25-year-old Cody Wayne Vaughn, passenger 25-year-old Anna Dee Vaughn and two kids, ages two and four, were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
