Teen Threatens To Light Himself On Fire During Battery Investigation

Child battery counts face a Randolph County teen whom police say struck a 13 year old boy during an argument. Police say 18 year old Nicholas Martin of the 500 block of West Pearl Street in Union City faces a felony count that carries up to 30 months in prison, if he’s convicted. Police say when they wnet to Martin’s home to arrest the teen, Martin threatened to light himself on fire. That was until an officer produced a stun gun and then Martin dropped the lighter and rubbing alcohol he was holding. He’s set to stand trial January 20th.
