Muncie has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in demolition contracts for its first large-scale attack on blighted properties. The Board of Public Works and Safety on Wednesday awarded contracts to two demolition companies, including Muncie-based Shroyer Brothers that unsuccessfully sued the city in 2016. The city received $4 million in 2014 from the state’s Hardest Hit Fund. Delays in starting the program meant that no blighted properties were demolished until a handful were razed this past fall.
