University officials say he was not a student, nor has he ever been. A Michigan City man is facing a sexual battery charge after an incident in the basement of a Ball State University fraternity house. 19-year-old Ryan Christopher Joseph Smith is accused of sexually assaulting a female student in the Phi Sigma Kappa house.
