Storms cause power lines to fall, trees to topple

Summer storms that rolled through Anderson and Madison County caused widespread power outages last night. Almost 2,000 Anderson Municipal Light & Power customers were without power after the first batch of storms with 50 mile an hour wind gusts hit the area just after 5 p.m. The storms continued throughout the evening, knocking down trees onto streets and power lines throughout the city. AEP reported 300 customers were affected in the north part of Anderson. Both utilities worked quickly to restore service.
