Henry County’s blue-green algae problem

Blue-green algae has been found in a creek and in several ponds in Henry County Memorial Park. That led to the them being closed to the public as a precaution yesterday. The concentrated presence of blue-green algae is linked to adverse health effects. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management says humans and animals should stay out of the water, especially children and dogs. Local fire departments are trying to flush away the algae trapped in the creek with tank water. The algae blooms because the current aeration system needs to be upgraded.
