DC holiday honoring President Lincoln is why taxes are due later

If you haven’t done your taxes yet, you have until midnight April 18th this year. The traditional tax day changed because of a federal holiday in DC on Friday, which commemorates the day President Lincoln freed more than 3,000 slaves in DC in 1862, before the Emancipation Proclamation.
