A new snow plow and salt truck caught fire while parked in the Muncie Street Department garage Tuesday morning, destroying the vehicle and causing damage to the structure. The 140-thousand dollar Western Star truck had not been driven in several days. Witnesses say they heard a loud sound before flames came from under the hood. There are four other trucks just like it in the fleet, causing concerns about other possible fires.
