Teen driver hurt in Yorktown crash, car catches fire

A teen driver from Yorktown was seriously hurt in crash early Monday morning on Road 600-W in Delaware County. The 17-year old girl’s car went off the road after turning from River Road, hit a tree then caught on fire. Police Chief Todd St. John says the young woman would have burned to death had it not been for a passing motorist who got her out before the fire consumed her car about 4 a.m. The teen was taken to a local hospital, then flown by Lifeline to an Indy hospital. They’ve not released her name or condition.
