Alexander: General Assembly kicks off 2026 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 18, 2025) — State Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also provides members of the Senate and House of Representatives with the opportunity to meet before session officially reconvenes on Jan. 5. By state law, the 2026 session will conclude on or before March 14.

“After many committees and meetings over the interim, it will be great to bring all of the new information we have gathered and put it to good use for the benefit of Hoosiers this session,” Alexander said. “I look forward to getting together with my fellow legislators once again and continuing to pass laws that improve our state.”

State Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie) represents Senate District 26,
which includes Delaware and Randolph counties.
