REPEAT OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN PRISON

From: Eric M. Hoffman, Prosecuting Attorney
Date: July 2, 2025
Muncie Indiana – On June 26, 2025, the Honorable Andrew J. Ramirez,
Judge of the Delaware County Circuit Court No. 2 sentenced Brock A. Watson
(DOB 11/02/1986) to 18 years in prison. This sentence is only 4 years shy from the maximum sentence allowed by law. On June 5, 2025, a
Delaware County jury deliberated for a little over 3 hours before convicting Watson of: Count 1, Armed Robbery, a Level 3 Felony, Count 2, Criminal Recklessness as a Level 5 Felony, and Theft, a Class A Misdemeanor. The trial began on June 2, 2025. A copy of the Affidavit of Probable Cause
for Arrest that was filed with the case is attached. Judge Ramirez noted that not only the nature of the offense but the character of the defendant supports an enhanced sentence.
Watson has fourteen (14) misdemeanor and ten (10) felony
convictions. Moreover, the court noted that “during the commission of the instant offense, the defendant was on supervised probation, was under the parole jurisdiction of Ohio and was on bond in this case” when he allegedly committed another felony.
After the sentencing hearing, Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hoffman said “I am extremely happy with this 18-year sentence. Watson is exactly the type of criminal that I have been talking about for years – a career criminal. He has managed to rack up fourteen (14) misdemeanor and ten (10) felony convictions. I and most everyone else in this county are sick and tired of the same people committing crime after crime after crime with no serious
consequences. These repeat offenders must be held to account and sent to prison. This 18-year sentence does exactly that. I am proud of Deputy Prosecutor Lexi Starost, Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Danielle Woodson, and Muncie Police Detective Matt Berger for their hard work and dedication in this case.”
