ISP Trooper Injured in Grant County Crash

An Indiana State Police say a Trooper was injured Tuesday morning in Grant County. It happened on State Road 22 near County Road 600 E when Senior Trooper Weston Shanks was on routine patrol in his department issued Charger. Investigators say a truck and trailer in front of the trooper slowed to make a right turn and for an undetermined reason, the Charger rear-ended the trailer,  left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. Trooper Shanks was transported to Lutheran Hospital by air ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured. Senior Trooper Shanks is a 13- year veteran of the State Police. The use of drugs or alcohol is not suspected and it remains under investigation.
