She was a former city council member and also a member of the Muncie Fire Merit Commission, and now the commission is honoring her upon her passing. Denise Moore died last week from complications from cancer at age 63. The commission is creating the Denise Moore Stewardship Award after it was passed unanimously. The annual award will go to a fire department member that shows exemplary service in stewardship.
