MadCo Commissioners Vote To Drop Needle Exchange Program

Madison County has ended its needle exchange program on a vote of 5-2 by the County Commission. The program has about 550 participants and allows people who are addicted to drugs to get clean needles to prevent the spread of HIV. The council voted to end financing for the program, which has been operating for two years, over concerns that it enables people who are addicted.
