The reconstruction of Wheeling Avenue is still in the works, with construction possible as early as 2018. The Star Press reports that the Muncie Board of Works and Public Safety has approved the first phase of the project. The $3.9 million price tag includes rebuilding the street and sidewalks along Wheeling between Centennial Avenue and McGalliard Road. Federal funds will cover 80 percent of the cost.
